National Marine Park, Plymouth
PL1
BluePrint provided heritage consultancy for the UK's first National Marine Park project.
A funding boost of £11.6m from The National Lottery Heritage Fund was awarded to Plymouth to support the project.
We assisted in obtaining planning and listed building consent approvals for Tinside Lido, the Garden Battery, and Mount Batten. At Tinside Lido, we conducted detailed assessments of the conditions, defects, and necessary repairs for the main Art Deco building and the traditional stone building to the east. We finalised the technical design for the repairs to the envelopes of both buildings (excluding roofs) and the internal concrete repairs. BluePrint was appointed to oversee the repair works, while the architects (LHC Design) focused on the terrace and internal fit-out. By engaging us at RIBA Stage 5, the team benefited from our extensive experience in historic building conservation and refurbishment. Our involvement reduced risks, preserved the integrity of the historic structures, maintained quality throughout construction, and facilitated a smooth process.
